Assistance Dogs for the Disabled
Basic Principle
Our basic principle is that disabled visitors who need assistance dogs for the disabled (herein after, refer to ‘assistance dogs’) can visit our hospital with peace of mind in accordance with the spirit of the Act on Assistance Dogs for Physically Disabled Persons.
However, in consideration for other patients at our hospital with various pathological conditions--in particular those with weakened immune systems or various allergies--the following restrictions apply when patients use assistance dogs.
Acceptable Kinds of Assistance Dogs
Guide Dogs
A guide dog with a harness, as stipulated in Article 14 of the Road Traffic Act, which supports the visually impaired to walk safely and pleasantly.
Service Dogs
A dog which supports activities of daily living and clearly labeled as a ‘Service Dog’.
Hearing Assistance Dogs
A dog that distinguishes sounds, alerts the hearing-impaired user, and guides them to the sound's source. It must be clearly labeled as a ‘Hearing Dog’.
※Pet dogs or animal therapy dogs other than these permitted by the hospital are prohibited.
Upon arrival (what we would like to confirm)

Hospitalization
- Assistance dogs may accompany users to the inpatient’s room, but may not stay throughout your hospitalization in order to avoid long waiting times.
- In case of emergency hospitalization, we may ask your family, dog training establishment, or designated corporation to take care of your dog.
When you see an assistance dog
- Please do not touch or speak to the dog, but simply observe it, because the dog is at work. Also, never give it food. Do not hesitate to notify if you have dog allergies or are not good with dogs.
